Last year, Jeremy Saulnier delivered a brutal, effective, high-tension thriller in Green Room. So people are naturally excited to see what he's up to next. He's now cast Jeffrey Wright, Alexander Skarsgard and James Badge Dale in Hold The Dark.
Saulnier's regular collaborator Macon Blair wrote the script, adapting William Giraldi's novel. The story is set in a remote Alaskan wilderness where wolves have been snatching and killing children. A wolf specialist is brought in, but finds himself caught between a distraught mother with a secret – who then disappears – and her husband, a combat veteran who returns from Iraq and goes on a murderous spree when he learns of his son's fate.
The new arrivals join a cast that already includes Riley Keough and James Bloor, with Saulnier eyeing a shoot next month in Alberta. And The movie already has a distribution deal via Netflix.
