Through the long press tour for smash success Gravity, director Alfonso Cuaron made light-hearted jokes about son and co-writer Jonas being too busy gearing up his next film to talk to his dad. The younger Cuaron has been working on getting Desierto ready to shoot with Gael Garcia Bernal as its leading man and has just locked in a villain, signing Jeffrey Dean Morgan to the role{
Having once more collaborated with Alfonso on the script, Jonas is set to direct the tale of a group of illegal immigrants, including Bernal's character, who are trying to cross the border into America in the hopes of starting a new life. But they fall afoul of a man (Morgan) who has unofficially decided to take the job of border patrol guard into his own, racist hands.
The shoot is currently pencilled in for Baja, California next month, with more casting to come. Morgan, more normally found playing heroes (albeit often troubled ones), was last seen in The Courier, which he also produced. 2014 sees him waiting for the release of** The Adventures Of Beatle**, Solace and The Salvation. He’s also scheduled to work on The Rut.
