The Dude Abides... again? Jeff Bridges has invoked the spirit (and comfortable clothing) of The Big Lebowski's laidback main character in the past, and now he's teasing a return of his most iconic character to our screens. But for what?
A new short video, showing Bridges dressed as The Dude (but at his current age) is captioned "can't be living in the past, man. Stay tuned."
He offers no other details, though the video does carry the date of 3 February, the day this year's Super Bowl game is happening across the pond. Which leads us to speculate whether it could be teasing an advert using the character which will run during the game's in-demand commercial slots. Does it have anything to do with John Turturro's unofficial Jesus-centric spin-off, which was filming nearly three years ago but has still yet to see the light of day? More excitingly, it could well mean there is more from The Dude and the Big Lebowski universe to come from the people behind it, the Coen brothers. Have they been at work on a secret sequel to their comedy classic? Unlikely, but that's just, like, your opinion, man.
Whatever it is, we'll find out in a couple of weeks. Here's hoping it's not as much of a disappointment as that Crocodile Dundee "sequel" with Danny McBride that turned out to be an Australian tourism ad.
