Okay, so Jane Lynch might have dumped cold water on the idea that she’ll be appearing in the new **Muppet **movie. But while we hope the team behind the film will still try to get her involved, the cameo-meter has continued to ping with new names added to the cast list on a weekly basis. The latest making the needle twitch? Try Jean-Claude Van Damme, Alan Arkin and Billy Crystal.
They’re just the latest in a round of names that has seen Jack Black and Zach Galifianakis roped in for brief appearances.
And the Heat Vision blog's story on the latest additions fills in a few more details on at least a couple of the cameos, with Arkin listed as a tour guide, Black as a kidnap victim and Galifianakis playing a tramp. There’s no info on what Arkin, Crystal or Van Damme will be getting up to, but be honest: you want to see JCVD battle Miss Piggy, right?
While that lot are just finding the odd day or two in their schedules to work on the movie, James Bobin is even now hard at work directing the thing, with Jason Segel, Amy Adams, Rashida Jones and Chris Cooper in the lead roles.
Segel is Gary, a human who, with his felt pal Walter, learns that the Muppets’ old movie studio is being pulled down so an oilman can drill for the black gold beneath its stages. The pair sets out to recruit the boggle-eyed brigade to save the place.
The new film will be released on February 17, 2012.
