Mere days ago, it emerged that Jackie Earle Haley would be joining the cast of the RoboCop reboot. And as part of the report on Haley, there was word of Tropic Thunder’s Jay Baruchel circling a part in the movie. Well, now it looks like he’s coming in for a landing as he’s locking in a deal.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Baruchel is close to signing on as the head of marketing for Omnicorp, the company that, in the new film, transforms slain police officer Alex Murphy (Joel Kinnaman) into the cyborg cop.

With Baruchel all but confirmed, the main cast is now pretty much complete, with Kinnaman, Haley, Hugh Laurie, Samuel L Jackson, Abbie Cornish and Gary Oldman all aboard.

Jose Padilha is getting set to shoot the movie this September in Toronto and it’s set to be released on August 9, 2013.

Baruchel most recently featured in Cosmopolis, and is at work on The Black Marks. He’s recently finished apocalypse-com The End Of The World with Seth Rogen and half of Hollywood’s comedy crowd and will also be heard as Hiccup in 2014’s sequel How To Train Your Dragon 2.
