Javier Bardem Will Dance Onto Glee

If you were to compile a list of Oscar-winning actors you thought might crop up on music-stuffed pop culture telly favourite Glee, chances are you might not end up adding Javier Bardem’s name. But you’d be mistaken, Friendo, as he’s apparently going to show up next season.

The connective tissue here is writer/director (and Glee co-creator) Bryan Murphy, who just worked with Bardem on the Julia Roberts pic Eat Pray Love, and discovered that the No Country For Old Men thesp is a bit of a "Gleek" in real life.

So what will he be appearing as? The man who turned down the lead role in musical adaptation Nine will play a rock star who becomes friends with Kevin McHale’s Artie.

“We’re going to rock the house,” Bardem tells Entertainment Weekly, who says he chewed through the entire first series in a week (we’re not sure if this is true, but it’s not like the actor needed to do much to impress Murphy). “We’re going to do some heavy metal — Spanish heavy metal, which is the worst.”

Sounds like it could be fun, and might just open the floodgates for other Oscar winners to show up. De Niro and Pacino in a mash up, anyone?
