Given how busy his big screen career is getting, we wouldn’t be surprised if Jason Sudeikis is the next regular cast member to pull the eject cord on Saturday Night Live. He’s just added yet another project to his schedule, landing the lead in Tumbledown opposite Rose Byrne.
Sean Mewshaw is directing the film, based on a script by Desi Van Til. The romantic comedy finds Sudeikis as a writer from New York who heads to Maine to investigate the death of a folk singer.
There, he meets the man’s widow (Byrne) and the romantic fireworks fly. It sounds like the recipe for another Nicholas Sparks weepy, though it’ll hopefully be intentionally funny.
Olivia Munn, Joe Manganiello, Blythe Danner, Michael McKean and Beau Bridges are filling out the cast, and they’re all set to report to Vancouver in October to start shooting.
Sudeikis has a few projects set for release or filming this year, including ‘toon adventure Epic and road trip comedy We’re The Millers (which we saw clips from at the Warner Bros. CinemaCon presentation last week and rather enjoyed). He’s also down to make the** Horrible Bosses** sequel. Byrne, recently on our screens in** I Give It A Year**, is at work on Nicholas Stoller’s Townies. She’ll be seen in The Internship and horror sequel** Insidious: Chapter 2**.
