Jason Segel Forgets Sarah Marshall

Jason Segel is not a name that will be familiar to anyone who hasn’t seen brilliant-but-cancelled US comedies Freaks & Geeks or Undeclared. But he’s gaining more recognition thanks to successful sitcom How I Met Your Mother and will shortly write and - when he can find the time - star in his own comedy film.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall is, according to Segel, "an amalgam of some of the bad relationships and break-ups I've had in my life," Segel said. "It takes place in Hawaii, and it is hell in paradise."

He’ll write the film this summer during his break from How I Met… before working on Knocked Up for The 40-Year-Old Virgin's Judd Apatow. The Virgin helmer –who also co-created Freaks and Undeclared – nurtured Segal’s writing talent on the shows and pushed him to write a spec script, Nightmares Beware, which in turn led to Sarah Marshall.
