He’s been rumoured in connection with the film we now know is called Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice for months, but no one knew what part Jason Momoa might end up playing even if he did sign on. More recently, the rumours have zeroed in on the role of Aquaman and according to Hitfix’s sources, his casting in the role is about to become official.

We’d caution you to keep that pinch of sea salt handy for a little while longer, as Warner Bros. / DC have yet to make any actual announcement. But from the sounds of it, director Zack Snyder has finalised designs for Momoa’s Aquaman and will shoot his relatively small role soon.

Apparently, Aquaman – whether he ends up being addressed as such in the final film remains to be seen – makes an appearance in the already stuffed superhero sequel to take Henry Cavill’s Superman to task about what Zod’s World Engine did to the oceans in Man Of Steel. It also sounds like his appearance will then lead to him a more prominent role in the eventual Justice League film.

Dawn Of Justice's cast is already crammed with Cavill, Ben Affleck’s Batman, Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor and the likes of Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, Amy Adams, Jeremy Irons, Holly Hunter, Tao Okamoto and Callan Mulvey. It’ll hit UK screens on April 29, 2016 before heading Stateside on May 6. It's apparently the first stage in Warners' ambitious release plan, which was rumoured last week.
