Jason Isaacs, Thandie Newton and, in a pleasing bit of good news for the actor, David Tennant have all signed up for the psychological thriller Retreat.
First-time director Carl Tibbetts is the man charged with sending them all to a remote island where danger lurks.
Isaacs and Newton are playing a couple trying to work on their relationship in glorious isolation when their relative peace is broken by the arrival of a man (Tennant) in terrible shape and military uniform, who warns them that there’s a deadly virus loose on the mainland.
“It reminded me of Dead Calm when I first read it. Only better,” producer Gary Sinyor tells Screen Daily. “It’s got a similar sexual tension but the battle of wits between the characters and plot twists are constantly surprising. We’re delighted to have secured three of the UK’s most powerful actors.”
They’ll kick off shooting this May in Canada.
