Hello to Jason Isaacs! Well, to his voice at least, as he’s joining the likes of Nick Frost, Emily Watson, Jessica Brown Findlay, Celia Imrie and Catherine Tate in new 3D comedy animation **Happy Family{ =nofollow}.

Yes, in its latest attempt to compete with the big players, indie outfit Ambient Entertainment has yoked in the usual cadre of name stars to provide the voices for the film, which Holger Tappe will direct from Catherina Junk and David Safier’s script.

Happy Family is adapted from Safier’s eponymous book, which follows the Wishbone family, one very unhappy clan under stress at home and at work who are constantly at each other’s throats. That changes – for good and ill – when they’re cursed by an evil witch, and transformed into their party costumes – a vampire, a mummy, a werewolf and Frankenstein’s Monster. As the creatures, they must fight off actual horror beasts, find a way to reverse the curse and maybe, just maybe, figure out how to become the happy family of the title.

Screen International’s report on the film doesn’t mention what Isaacs will be doing in the movie (the first image, below, points to Frost playing the family's father), so perhaps he’s providing some of his patented villainy. The film's rights will be on sale at the American Film Market, which kicks off in Los Angeles this week, but there’s no sign of a release date yet.
