A wealth of talent is coming together to make the Philip K. Dick-based anthology series Electric Dreams, as spearheaded by Ronald D. Moore and Bryan Cranston. The latest recruits are Juno Temple and Janelle Monae.
The duo joins Jay Paulson and David Lyons in an episode of the planned series called Autofac. It's set in a world where human society has essentially collapsed, taking the world around it along for the ride. Yet a massive, automatic product-spewing factory continues to work, designed to meet our consumerist needs, though based on the idea that to be happy, we must consume without question.
A small band of rebels decide to infiltrate the place to shut it down, but discover something surprising. Monae is on to play Alexis, a representative of the facility, while Temple will be a rebel named Emily. The episode comes from Pacific Rim's Travis Beacham and has Peter Horton aboard to direct.
Electric Dreams boasts a cast that also includes Steve Buscemi, Greg Kinnear, Anna Paquin, Richard Madden and Vera Farmiga, with Cranston planning to appear in at least one episode. The plan is for the show to air on Channel 4 later this year and then head to Amazon Prime.
