Jane Lynch Joins The Three Stooges

Now that we seem to have a Moe, Curly and Larry in place, the casting net on The Farrelly Brothers' Three Stooges movie is widening. Jane Lynch has just signed to play the Mother Superior at the orphanage where the boys grew up.

The long-suffering matriarch has been trying to get the Stooges adopted for years with no success, presumably because they're wont to poke each other in the eye in front of prospective parents.

Lynch is best known these days for her Emmy and Golden Globe award-winning role as Glee's cheerleading squad leader Sue Sylvester, but she's also part of Christopher Guest's mock-doc ensemble, turning in great work in Best in Show, A Mighty Wind and For Your Consideration. Plus there's the recurring role on Two and a Half Men as Charlie's therapist, so she has form trying to wrangle crazy men-children.

In other words, she's a strong addition to an already interesting cast, even if she's not quite as impressively bizarre a choice as Richard Jenkins, who was being linked to the Mother Superior role a while ago. Chris Diamantopoulos, Will Sasso and Sean Hayes are the titular trio, with Sofia Vergara also signed up as a femme fatale. Shooting begins shortly for a release some time next year.
