As the scripts come together for Castle Rock, the psychological horror series based in the world of Stephen King's writing and co-produced by the prolific author and J.J. Abrams, the cast is also slowly assembling. Jane Levy and Sissy Spacek are the latest to board the show.

Named for the fictional Maine town King has used in a variety of stories across novels, novellas and short stories, it'll be a series of linked tales telling a greater narrative of light battling darkness.

Moonlight's André Holland is starring as a death row attorney who has a complicated history in the town. Spacek, who herself has a little history with King's world since playing the original tortured teen in Carrie, is on to play his adoptive mother. A retired professor, her memories are starting to fade but she might must be the key to the place's unsettling past. Levy, meanwhile, is playing Jackie, the death-obsessed and self-proclaimed historian of the town.

Sam Shaw and Dustin Thomason developed the idea and are wrangling it together for US streaming service Hulu. Levy, who has also recently signed on to star in supernatural comedy pilot Sea Oak alongside Glenn Close. Spacek was part of the cast for Bloodline and will be back on the big screen next year in The Old Man And The Gun.
