There are some filmmakers you feel are natural fits to the subject matter they tackle. Few could best Peter Jackson's vision for **Lord Of The Rings. **Jason Reitman was perfect for Juno. And then there are the match-ups that are so seemingly from left-field, your neck hurts from craning to see. Case in point: David O Russell making Pride And Prejudice And Zombie****s.
But according to Pajiba's sources, that's exactly what's going to happen. Russell will adapt Seth Graham-Smith's undead-filled version of Jane Austen's classic. And then he'll direct the thing, with the recently-added Natalie Portman playing Elizabeth Bennett.
It's certainly an intriguing idea (though, as usual, it's technically a rumour until the official announcement), and we have to wonder why Russell would pick it, having never worked on a period drama or a horror movie before. Which might itself be the point - he's decided to stretch out of his comfort zone.
Hopefully his luck is improving after he actually managed to finish shooting The Fighter with Christian Bale and Mark Wahlberg and didn't have financial issues or end up screaming at castmembers (though who knows on that one with Bale and Russell together on one set?)
However it turns out, we just know we want to see it...
