There’s a lot to be excited about in the new Halloween film — for one, it’s a sequel in the original continuity and nothing to do with Rob Zombie’s reboot. Second, it’s got the curious creative duo of Danny McBride and David Gordon Green behind it. And most excitingly of all, Jamie Lee Curtis is back as the original scream queen heroine Laurie Strode.

While we’ve known about Curtis’ involvement for a while, she’s shared the first image of her back in character on the first day of shooting, once again sporting the long hair she had in the original 1978 classic. She looks the same, just… well, 40 years older.

It’s the first time Strode has appeared in a Halloween film since 2002’s Halloween: Resurrection. With the murderous Michael Myers finally bumping her off in that film, this new sequel will instead be a direct continuation of the original Halloween. Curtis will be joined by Judy Greer as Laurie’s daughter Karen, and Andi Matichak as her granddaughter Allyson.

Little else is known about the project, but John Carpenter is signed on as an Executive Producer, and is once again on music duties. The film is set for a 19 October release.
