Things are moving on apace with the film adaptation of video game title Borderlands, as the cast is really beginning to come together. Director Eli Roth is adding Jamie Lee Curtis to the ensemble.
With Craig Mazin on script duty, the story for the film is largely under wraps, but it'll likely follow a version of the game, which has a group of four Vault Hunters who travel to the distant planet Pandora to hunt down an alien vault that is rumored to contain advanced alien technology. They quickly find themselves battling the local wildlife and bandit population as they attempt to stop the head of a private army from reaching the vault first.
Curtis will play Tannis, an archeologist on Pandora who might have the key to finding the vault, but whose complicated history with Lilith (Cate Blanchett) isn’t going to help. "Working with the iconic Jamie Lee Curtis has been a life long dream of mine, and I am so excited for her to bring her humor, warmth and brilliance to the role of Tannis," says Roth.
Kevin Hart was recruited recently, and the film should be starting to shoot soon.
