What if you could swallow a pill and unlock the unknown superpower lurking within you? That's the big question behind new Netflix thriller Project Power, which stars Jamie Foxx, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Dominique Fishback. See the first trailer below.

The pill in question is flooding the streets of New Orleans, where it offers powers unique to each user. The catch: You don’t know what will happen until you take it. While some develop bulletproof skin, invisibility, and super strength, others exhibit a deadlier reaction.

But when the pill escalates crime within the city to dangerous levels, a local cop (Gordon-Levitt) teams with a teenage dealer (Fishback) and a former soldier fueled by a secret vendetta (Foxx) to fight power with power and risk taking the pill in order to track down and stop the group responsible for creating it.

Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman directed the movie, which has a script from The Batman co-writer Mattson Tomlin. It'll hit the streaming service on 14 August, and we can already hear the complaints from the team behind Limitless: "A pill that grants extra abilities, eh? Where have we heard that before?"
