And so the Fifty Shades Of Grey bandwagon rolls on. Following Charlie Hunnam’s quick exit from the role of bondage-happy billionaire Christian Grey last week, the filmmakers have been on a hunt for his replacement. The lucky fella – though perhaps we should wait and see if A) he sticks around and B) is embraced by the fervent fan base and general audiences – is The Fall’s Jamie Dornan.
Dornan had been one of the names mooted for a while, and was on the list even back when Hunnam was originally announced. Now the 31-year-old, who has appeared on the big screen in M****arie Antoinette and Shadows In The Sun but who became better known for TV work in Once Upon A Time and The Fall, is set to romance Dakota Johnson’s Anastasia Steele in all manner of kinky ways. Jennifer Ehle is also aboard, playing Steele’s opinionated mother.
With Sam Taylor-Johnson in the director’s chair and a script originated by Kelly Marcel and recently polished by Patrick Marber, Fifty Shades Of Grey is set to shooting next month, aiming for an August 2014 release date.
