When turning any property into a film, it’s helpful if studios can get the original creators involved to offer their blessing if not their oversight. Relativity Media’s new take on The Crow has just such a feather in its cap, with the graphic novel’s writer / artist James O’Barr on board to consult.
The reboot has Luke Evans set to play Eric Draven, the man murdered by criminals but brought back from the land of the dead by a mysterious, mystical crow to get revenge against those who wronged him and his fiancée. F. Javier Gutiérrez is set to direct from Cliff Dorfman’s script. The O’Barr PR blitz will apparently begin as he and the megaphone man stop by Comic-Con to talk to fans.
“It is important for Crow fans to understand that Relativity, Javier, Luke and the entire team are working on a new adaptation of the book itself,” said O’Barr in a statement picked up by Variety. “I believe that this movie will stand alongside Brandon and his film as a valid work of art, and I look forward to collaborating on the project.”
