Universal has tracked down the man they were looking for to star in Wanted.
Narnia’s James McAvoy will play the lead in the sci-fi action thriller based on the comic series by Mark Millar and JG Jones. The plot finds a young man (McAvoy) who is drafted into a secret cadre of killers after his assassin father is offed.
Night Watch helmer Timur Bekmambetov is calling the shots on the film, which is planned to start shooting early next year. We’re hoping that the script, written by Derek Haas and Michael Brandt, will be better than their last effort. Why the worry? That was 2 Fast 2 Furious.
"With Timur, Mark, James and the underlying material, it's going to be a new kind of action movie that kids and adults are going to embrace around the world," Universal co-chairman David Linde told The Hollywood Reporter. Erm... Kids? Has he read the comic?
