There has been a change in the cast for the ambitious, double feature plan now called **The Disappearance Of Eleanor Rigby: His **and The Disappearance Of Eleanor Rigby: Hers. Back in February, Joel Edgerton was announced to play the male half of a married couple with Jessica Chastain as his wife. But now, due to what we figure are scheduling issues, Edgerton has ducked out and James McAvoy is in his place.
Director Ned Benson was responsible for coming up with both scripts and will direct the movie duo, which follows the emotional fallout when Chastain decides to go back to college and the impact it has on McAvoy’s restaurant owner.
While the two films are planned as standalone productions, they will tell the same story from the couples’ differing perspectives, a challenge that will be particularly tough to pull off. There’s no word on when they’ll actually see cinemas and in what order – or if they’ll truly get to play together as a double feature. But with Chastain and McAvoy in the lead roles, we’re confident they’ll be anchored by solid performances.
McAvoy has a few films trudging through post-production, including Welcome To The Punch, Filth and Danny Boyle’s latest, Trance.
