Sorry, this has absolutely nothing to do with the X-Men. James Mangold is directing an adaption of the comic book Cyclops, but Scott Summers does not figure.
This Cyclops is actually based on Alexis Nolent's graphic novel about a group of mercenary soldiers who fight equipped with cyclops helmets that broadcast their battles live to both their commanders and people's living rooms. One of these soldiers slowly begins to realise that their fight is not for justice, but for commerce and viewing figures.
"It is an electrifying package you find in the best sci-fi: great action sequences combined with themes that are eminently foreseeable," Mangold told Variety.
Sounds like strong, almost Running Man like premise to us. We consider that a good thing. Scott Summers was always a bit of a drip anyway.
