While there will be more information – and likely pictures/some sort of teaser – coming when the DC FanDome virtual event happens on 22 August, writer/director James Gunn took to Twitter today to show off the title treatment for his next film, The Suicide Squad.
The title is shown in several international variants, which does make us wonder what the film is called overseas, as titles sometimes change (even here in the UK, when there are copyright issues) and it's fascinating to see how studios sell movies elsewhere.
The Suicide Squad is certainly an odd one, part sequel to the 2018 film, part reboot that aims to bring more fun to the characters. And it's a blend of current cast members (Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman, Viola Davis) and new folk (Idris Elba, Taika Waititi, John Cena), so we're still waiting to see how it all works, though we have faith in Gunn.
As mentioned above, we'll find out more during the 22 August FanDome event, which will also feature presentations on The Batman, Wonder Woman 1984 and Zack Snyder's cut of Justice League.
Oh, and because the title dropped on Gunn's birthday, there was also a video from his cast, offering him best wishes.
