It may not sound like the biggest surprise, but give that only a handful of Marvel’s chosen directors have returned for more than one film, it’s still newsworthy for _Guardians Of The Galaxy** co-writer Nicole Perlman to tell The Wrap that co-writer / director James Gunn will be back for the seque_l.

Marvel has made no official announcement on the matter – though that might happen at its Comic-Con panel this afternoon – but with the positive response to Guardians so far and its healthy box-office tracking, it seems entirely possible that Gunn will be back.

And even despite his own self-professed weariness after giving over two years of his life to making the first film,Gunn has been taking about how pleased he is with the final product and how sad he will be to stop inhabiting the **Guardians **universe. The gamble of letting him put his offbeat personal stamp on the film certainly appears to have paid off, and Marvel is naturally considering a sequel if the first one performs.

Talking of, Guardians Of The Galaxy, which stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, the voices of Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel, Glenn Close, John C. Reilly, Djimon Hounsou, Lee Pace and Michael Rooker, will be out in the UK on July 31.
