After being handed a massive career boost and the role of a lifetime by David Chase on The Sopranos, what do you think James Gandolfini's answer was when Chase asked him to star in his first stab at feature film writing/directing, Twylight Zones? Talk about an offer you can’t refuse!* Somewhat naturally, Gandolfini agreed.

He’s signed on to play the father of Douglas (John Magaro), a shy, awkward New Jersey teen in the 1960s who finally finds his calling as the lead singer of a rock band inspired by the likes of the Rolling Stones. But his newfound love for performing brings him into conflict with his pop, who can’t stand the boy’s music.

Gandolfini is not the only one coming aboard, as Molly Price has agreed to play his wife and Brad Garrett will also take a role.

It appears the man formerly known as Tony Soprano will have a busy time in the early part of the year: Deadline reports that he’s also in final negotiations to join the cast of Stephen Daldry’s Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close and Cogan’s Trade, which Andrew Dominik is looking to shoot with Brad Pitt. On top of all of that, he’s also reuniting with the original cast of Yasmina Reza’s play God of Carnage for a run in Los Angeles. The man’s clearly not looking to sleep any time soon…*
