Even though he has Olivia Wilde and Liam Neeson aboard, Paul Haggis really couldn’t make a movie called Third Person without hiring at least one more body. But instead he got greedy and nabbed three, with James Franco, Mila Kunis and Casey Affleck all now aboard.
In fact, he does actually need a sizeable cast for this one, which tracks three interconnected couples across three cities. "The three stories look at the beginning, middle and end of a relationship," says Haggis in a statement picked up by Variety. "The couple in Italy represents the beginning, Paris the middle and New York the end."
So who are the couples? Affleck will be one half of the Rome pair, playing alongside Moran Atias, who has Haggis form, having appeared in The Next Three Days, and, coincidentally, the TV spin-off from Crash.
Paris will play host to Wilde and Neeson, who play writers living in the City of Light.
Finally, we’ll come to a love-bruising finale with Franco and Kunis (who previously played a criminal couple in Date Night) as an estranged pair living in The Big Apple.
With funding in place from indie company Corsan, Haggis is off to Rome to begin filming in October, while the producers will be selling rights to the film at next month’s Toronto International Film Festival.
