Late Late Show host James Corden tends to divide people. He has his fans, for sure, and finds plenty of work via his chatshow, his award show duties and the occasional film role. But he also has a lot of people for whom his very name conjures blind rage. So his joining Melissa McCarthy's latest comedy, Super Intelligence, is likely to send that faction frothing.

McCarthy is playing Carol Peters, a former corporate executive who is selected for observation by a hyper-intelligent artificial system that may end up taking over the world. Corden is set to lend his particular vocal tones to the AI. Because, as we all know, all the best potentially evil AI has a British accent.

With Ben Falcone once again directing having written the script with McCarthy and fellow regular collaborator Steve Mallory, the film will kick off shooting next month and is aiming for a Christmas 2019 release.

Corden is back on UK screens this weekend with Ocean's 8 and his voice will be heard in yeti animated comedy Smallfoot, out on 5 October.
