Now that his latest labour of love (and shouting at people to do better) is finally over and Avatar is days away from our cinemas, you might think James Cameron would take it easy for a while. But that's not really his style: he's apparently developing another sci-fi script.
Okay, so he's probably not jumping straight back into production on another film, but it looks like Cameron will be keeping a few cinematic irons hot while he ponders his next move. Case in point? Production Weekly's report of him overseeing a screenplay from Aliens Vs Predator - Requiem/Shaft/Armageddon writer Shane Salerno.
It's described as an "action script of Fox, an 'event' film set in the future." Naturally, speculation will fly, but it doesn't necessarily sound like Battle Angel Alita, which Cameron has been slowly designing alongside Avatar, nor does it point to any of his other announced projects.
Even more intriguing is the fact that, back in 2008, The Hollywood Reporter made mention of Fox nabbing a script by Salerno called Doomsday Protocol, featuring a group of humans and aliens gathered, Seven Samurai-style, to defend the Earth against attack.
Knowing Cameron, of course, we'll just have to wait and see...
