The mooted portmanteau movie based on Heavy Metal - the influential and infamous sci-fi-and-boobs anthology comic - has gained James Cameron as a director, according to an interview with Kevin Eastman, co-creator of the Ninja Turtles and current owner of HM's print version. David Fincher, Zack Snyder and Gore Verbinski are also aboard.

The movie will feature several story segments, a la Sin City, with the directors taking one each and Cameron doubling as executive producer. Mark Osborne, director of Kung Fu Panda, is also said to be re-teaming with Jack Black for a comedy slot. There were previous** Heavy Metal** movies in 1981 and 2000 (although the latter went straight to video), but with these guys on board we're hoping for more this time.

In the other direction, mentalist Chilean film director Alejandro Jodorowsky has a lengthy story in the current (July) issue of the magazine, illustrated by Milo Manara. It's pure filth. Sweet!
