You can keep yer G.I. Joes! For those of us of a certain age, Action Man was the eagle-eyed, multi-outfitted military martinet toy of choice in the UK. Now he's getting a film version courtesy of Hasbro, Paramount and, in the director's chair, The Muppets' James Bobin.
While Deadline's report on the hiring offers no details of the film's tone, the presence of Bobin and particularly Paddington 2 co-writer Simon Farnaby has us thinking that this might not be quite as straight-faced as the G.I. Joe movies have tended to be so far.
Neither Paramount nor Hasbro has officially confirmed the news, but it's certainly looking like Bobin and Farnaby will get their chance to put their stamp on the toy line's film adaptation, and hopefully bring a welcome sense of humour to the idea. Now all we have to do is wait for the Action Man/G.I. Joe crossover where our hero meets The Rock's Roadblock...
