It would seem that Nick Stoller’s busy schedule means good news for Bad Teacher director Jake Kasdan, as he’s now in negotiations to take over megaphone duties for Jason Segel’s new comedy Sex Tape.

Back in October, it was reported that Reese Witherspoon was in the running to co-star with Segel as a married couple who get the night off from looking after their kids and decide to spice things up a little by making a tape of their sexy time.

Sadly for them, they wake up the next morning to find that someone has swiped the recording, leading to a desperate search to get it back. Kate Angelo wrote the script, which we figure Segel and Stoller will have tinkered with.

From the looks of it, Witherspoon won’t now be involved, though The Hollywood Reporter says that Teacher** star Cameron Diaz has been talked about, while Stoller has had to drop out of directing thanks to a timing clash. But Segel remains on board and is probably even now practicing how to make a sex tape on his own. Yes, we put that image in your head. Now you never need to eat again!

If he signs on, the film will reunite Kasdan with Segel, who had a supporting role in Teacher. Kasdan has been busy more with TV than movies recently, serving as an executive producer and director on Zooey Deschanel comedy New Girl. He also produced Jon Hamm / Jennifer Westfeldt comedy Friends With Kids, which is out here on June 29.
