After working well together on both Prisoners and Enemy, Jake Gyllenhaal and director Denis Villeneuve are looking to keep the collaboration going with a third film. And this time, they're looking to bring Jo Nesbo's crime novel The Son to the screen.

Nesbo's novel follows Sonny Lofthus, whose promising career as a wrestler was shattered when his cop father committed suicide. The impact left him on a downward spiral, and he ended up in prison. Twelve years have passed since he was put behind bars, and now he's learned the truth of what actually happened to his dad. Sonny escapes and goes on a hunt for the people responsible for his father's death and who had him put into the slammer.

Gyllenhaal is producing this one via his Nine Stories company and Bold Films is setting the project up. But it'll have to wait until Villeneuve in particular has a clearer schedule: he's finishing off sci-fi Story Of Your Life (which may end up with a different title) and is about to start work on the Blade Runner sequel. Gyllenhaal will be seen in Nocturnal Animals, Boston bombing drama Stronger and sci-fi drama Okja.
