In its continuing quest to get the Jack Ryan franchise back on its feet – this time with a reboot tentatively titled Moscow – Paramount has hired yet another writer hoping to crack the script that can get the film shooting. And this time, the studio is pinning its hopes on Anthony Peckham, one of the scribblers behind Sherlock Holmes.
Currently, Chris Pine is the man that Paramount is betting will successfully make the leap from Captain Kirk’s chair to the spy world originally created by Tom Clancy, and which has seen the character played by Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford and Ben Affleck in turn.
The latest outing will, like The Sum of All Fears, follow Ryan’s earlier days with the CIA. Hossein Amini and Adam Koxac have worked on the thriller, putting the focus on terrorism in Russia, but Peckham has been brought in to buff up their efforts so that former Lost director Jack Bender can begin filming either later this year or early next.
Peckham’s previous work also includes writing Invictus for Clint Eastwood, and polishing duties on both Holmes and Book of Eli.
