Eli Roth already has one of his The House With A Clock In Its Walls stars on board for his next project, adapting the Borderlands video game into a film, as Cate Blanchett is leading the new movie's cast. He's now recruited the other House star, as Jack Black will lend his voice to sarcastic robot Claptrap.

Borderlands, in case you've never played the game, follows a group of four Vault Hunters who travel to the distant planet Pandora to hunt down an alien vault that is rumored to contain advanced technology. They quickly find themselves battling the local wildlife and bandit population as they attempt to stop the head of a private army from reaching the vault first. Claptrap, a robot on for the mission, adds his own darkly dry take to his thoughts about his comrades and their chances for survival.

Black – who won't actually be on set – joins a cast that already features Blanchett, Kevin Hartand Jamie Lee Curtis. "I am so excited to reunite with Jack, this time in the recording booth. Claptrap is the funniest character in the game, and Jack is perfect to bring him to the big screen," Roth says in a statement.

Lionsgate's Nathan Kahane also seems happy: "We couldn’t have been more in sync with our filmmakers and casting executives as we approached this role. It’s one of the biggest no-brainer casting decisions we’ve ever made. Everyone who’s ever played the game knows Jack is perfect for this part. We’re thrilled he will add his endless comic energy and voice to our film – he’ll bring so much to the movie."
