Jack Black Scores Comedy Touchdown

Not content with helping to bring life into the world following this summer’s birth of his son, Jack Black is continuing his mission to help birth movies too.

While he and producing partner Mike White ended their Black And White production company recently, the two are still working together on several films, including White’s directorial debut, Year Of The Dog.

But Black now has his own, separate company, the aptly named Electric Dynamite. The first project for the infant production unit will be a comedy for Universal based on a New York Times article called In College Football, Big Paydays For Humiliation. Of course, that won’t be the title of the movie, but it’s pretty good as the pitch.

The story follows the fact that college American football teams spend thousands of dollars to recruit weaker teams for them to warm up on and to score easy wins. The film will likely find a rag-tag team of these guaranteed losers learning life lessons and probably triumphing. But with no writer attached yet, we’ll just have to wait and see.
