2006's Tenacious D In The Pick Of Destiny was not, it must be said, a box office hit. In fact, it didn't even make its budget back in worldwide ticket sales. But something funny happened when it hit home entertainment formats: the movie earned cult status and turned a profit. Now, according to co-star/co-writer/Co-D founder Jack Black, a follow-up is in the works.

During an appearance at the Shaky Knees Music Festival in Atlanta this weekend where Black and Kyle Gass rocked through a few of the duo's hits, Black talked up the idea that a follow-up will be headed our way in October. "I don’t know where you’ll be able to see it, but we have decided that it’s happening and it’s coming out," Black said from the stage.

No further details were forthcoming, so we don't know what form this mysterious project will take. Chances are it may skip cinemas altogether and end up somewhere like Netflix or just release via VOD and Blu-ray/download. But we'd just be happy to see more madness from JB and KG.
