After a lacklustre 2006 - Nacho Libre, The Holiday and a disappointing Tenacious D movie - Jack Black's hoping to get back on track with an adventure comedy, The Lost Adventures of Stone Perlmutter Jr.
The film is conceived as a faux-documentary, based on Blair Witch style "lost" footage from 1979, chronicling the adventures of self-styled Indiana Jones type Perlmutter. He travels the globe searching for Yetis, El Dorado and the lost tomb of Jesus, and somehow manages to find disaster at every turn instead. All the potential's there for a very funny film, and with a certain fourth instalment in a major motion picture franchise due out next year, it couldn't be more timely.
The script's being written by Peter Huyck and Alex Gregory, new screenwriters with two other comedies currently in development. But while it's being developed as a starring vehicle for Black, he's got quite a few others to come first - the completed dramedy Margot At The Wedding, Michel Gondry's Be Kind Rewind, the animated Kung Fu Panda and the all-star Tropic Thunder, not to mention Ye Olde Times and The Year One, both still in the early stages of development.
