There's a long tradition of those who make an impact on long-running Stateside series Saturday Night Live also making the leap to movies, and current sensation Bowen Yang is doing just that. He's one of the stars of new romantic comedy of errors Fire Island, which has its first trailer online.
Set in the iconic Pines, where gay people gather to party and celebrate each other every year, Andrew Ahn’s film is an unapologetic, modern day rom-com showcasing a diverse, multicultural examination of queerness and romance. Inspired by the timeless pursuits from Jane Austen’s classic Pride And Prejudice, the story focuses on two best friends (Joel Kim Booster and Yang) who set out to have a legendary summer adventure with the help of cheap rosé and their cadre of eclectic friends.
But when Yang's Howie is swept off his feet by a doctor (James Scully), that introduces another friend group into the mix, including a Mr. Darcy-inspired love interest played by Conrad Ricamora.
The film lands on Hulu in the US on 3 June and while there's no strict UK release date, we can likely expect it on Disney+ around the same time.
