We've already had a couple of solid glimpses at Disney's latest attempt to turn a 'toon property into a live-action film, and, like Maleficent, does it in left field fashion. With Emma Stone in the lead, Cruella is striding towards screens in fashionably dangerous heels, and the latest trailer has arrived.

The film charts the rebellious early days of one of cinema's most notorious – and notoriously fashionable – villains, the legendary Cruella de Vil. Directed by Craig Gillespie, Cruella, which is set in 1970s London amidst the punk rock revolution, follows a young grifter named Estella (Stone), a clever and creative girl determined to make a name for herself with her designs. She befriends a pair of young thieves who appreciate her appetite for mischief, and together they are able to build a life for themselves on the London streets.

One day, Estella’s flair for fashion catches the eye of the Baroness von Hellman (Emma Thompson), a fashion legend who is devastatingly chic and terrifyingly haute. But their relationship sets in motion a course of events and revelations that will cause Estella to embrace her wicked side and become the raucous, fashionable and revenge-bent Cruella. There's a real Devil Wears Prada feel going on here, but we'll see if the movie shares that level of success.

Cruella will be on UK and US screens on 28 May, and will also be available on Disney+ for the Premier Access extra fee.
