It: Chapter Two

Ready for more clowning around? The new trailer for It: Chapter Two has arrived following yesterday’s Comic-Con adjacent ScareDiego event where new footage was debuted – and it looks bloody scary. Telling the second half of Stephen King’s classic horror novel, this one follows the aged-up Losers’ Club 27 years after the events of Chapter One, when Pennywise returns to claim his next set of victims. And yes, he’ll still haunt your nightmares.

It’s a confident trailer that dials up the mayhem, after it once again introduced the new adult cast – including the likes of James McAvoy as Bill Denborough, Jessica Chastain as Beverly Marsh, and Bill Hader as Richie Tozer – and reveals Pennywise’s return to Derry. From there, the trailer shows once again that this is a full-on horror blockbuster – with set-pieces as considerable as its scares. Much is teased from a carnival showdown, where the ‘Fun House’ doesn’t look to contain much in the way of actual fun. Don’t go into the Hall of Mirrors, guys – that’s Horror Survival 101. There are some intriguingly trippy visuals there too – plus Chastain drenched in huge amounts of blood, and a nightmarish new look for Bill Skarsgård, who reprises his role as the clown-demon.

Considering how well director Andy Muschietti conjured slick scares and genuine emotion with his young cast last time around, hopefully he can repeat the trick here. We’ll find out when It: Chapter Two roars into UK cinemas on 6 September.
