Isabelle Fuhrman is no stranger to creepy or lethal types; she’s generally playing one or the other, as with the odd, dangerous Esther in Orphan or Clove in The Hunger Game****s. But David Gordon Green is giving her the chance to see things from another perspective, after casting her in his long-gestating remake of Suspiria.

Green has written a new script with Chris Gebert, which roughly follows the plot of Dario Argento’s 1977 original chiller. In it, a girl named Suzie travels to Europe to attend a renowned school, only to find out that the place is the front for a powerful, vindictive coven of witches.

The film will be one of many selling rights at Cannes, and Green is gearing up to crank the cameras in September, realising a dream he’s had since before the likes of Pineapple Express and The Sitter.

Fuhrman has worked on indie drama The Healer and is currently shooting M Night Shyamalan’s After Earth alongside Will Smith and Jaden Smith.
