John le Carré adaptations have a very high bar to hurdle thanks to films such as Tinker Tailor Spy. So now we'll see how the team behind Our Kind Of Traitor has pulled off the trick via the first trailer.
The plot finds ordinary English couple Perry (Ewan McGregor)and Gail (Naomie Harris) holidaying in Marrakech when they're approached by flamboyant, charismatic older Russian Dima (Stellan Skarsgard). But after enjoying themselves in his company, he makes an urgent request... Turns out he's part of the Russian mafia yet looking to get himself out of laundering money for very dangerous people, and he needs their help to get classified information to MI6.
Perry and Gail soon find themselves caught in a whirlwind of international intrigue, betrayal and danger, especially when dealing with driven, determined MI6 agent Hector (Damian Lewis)...
With Drive's Hossein Amini on script duty and Susanna White directing, Our Kind Of Traitor will be out on May 6.
