Short and sweet (for a given value of "sweet"), here's a sharply shocking teaser trailer for **Insidious, the upcoming horror thriller starring Patrick Wilson and Rose Byrne.
A haunted house movie with the twist that it's not actually the house that's haunted (although we hope that's not the main twist, given that it's in this trailer), Insidious involves a comatose boy who, for reasons unknown, has become a conduit for malevolent entities and things that go bump, while his consciousness is trapped in a purgatorious realm called The Further.
Not much to be gleaned from this clip, other than an impressive (for a green band trailer) number of jolts and screams and crash cuts. That last line is nicely ominous though, and it's always a pleasure to see Byrne and Wilson (who's a particularly nice guy). Barbara Hershey and Ty Simpkins co-star.
**Insidious **creeps up on us courtesy of James Wan and Leigh Wannell (the original Saw, weak killer dummy flick Dead Silence), and under the banner of Haunted Films, the set-up belonging to the Paranormal Activity team of Oren Peli, Steven Schneider and Jason Blum (also behind Barry Levinson's The Bay and Rob Zombie's Lords of Salem). No UK release date yet, but keep eyes peeled later this year.
