Pixar and Inside Out did predictably well at the 43rd Annie Awards, which took place on Saturday night. All in all, the emotion-filled animated adventure won 10 awards, lifting the trophy in almost every category for which it was nominated.
Amusingly, in the one category it lost, the victor was... Pixar again, as The Good Dinosaur scored a sole award for animated effects. Elsewhere, Marvel's Avengers: Age Of Ultron won an award for its destructive big set piece, while the team behind The Revenant's impressive bear effects also won their category. And in a smart move, the Annie board this year split the main Animated Feature category and created a separate award for independent features, which was won by Ale Abreu’s Boy And The World, one of Pixar's competitors for the animation category at the Oscars this year. It would appear, however, that Inside Out is likely to win that one, since the Annies have a reliable track record of predicting the winners of Academy Awards for animation.
