If you were hoping that the man with the hat would finally be back in 2020, we have some bad news. Break out the map and the plane overlay, though perhaps it should be a TARDIS, as the new Indiana Jones movie is on the move to 2021.
Word that the film would again be shifting its release schedule popped up last month, when Solo: A Star Wars Story's Jon Kasdan was announced as taking over script chores. The delays and production demands mean that Steven Spielberg will delay work on the film, with a new date set for 9 July, 2021. Let's see if Indy can meet that deadline.
In related Disney release date announcements, the Mouse House has handed an 11 October 2019 release date to the Dwayne Johnson-starring Jungle Cruise, while Maleficent 2 will arrive on screens on 29 May 2020.
Before that, Mary Poppins Returns is shifting a week earlier in December this year, and the Wreck-It Ralph sequel is staying in place, but undergoing a minor name tweak to simply Ralph Breaks The Internet. As with all release date stories, the announcements relate to US dates; the Ralph follow-up for example, is out in the States on 21 November this year before heading here on the 30th of the month.
Finally, an untitled Marvel move is also changing its release, jumping from July 2021 to February that year, to be replaced by an unknown live-action Disney pic. Frankly, our brains start to hurt trying to think that far forward.
