From everything we’ve heard so far (and we’ve heard some things) DreamWorks’ adaptation of Electronic Arts’ Need For Speed game franchise is shaping up to be much more than just your flashy gear head action film. More proof roars in today as Imogen Poots has entered negotiations to co-star with Breaking Bad’s Aaron Paul.
Poots is locking down a deal to play a savvy exotic car dealer who helps the wealthy secure high-end racing vehicles and street demons. Paul will be doing a lot of driving as the lead, but from the sounds of it Poots will also be behind the steering wheel.
**Act Of Valour **director Scott Waugh is calling the shots, working from a script co-written by John and George Gatins. The aim is to channel the spirit of the video games, but make the movie feel more like a car-culture film of the 1970s.
Waugh is in pre-production now, with the film set to race into cinemas on February 7, 2014. Poots will be seen in** Greetings From Tim Buckley**, A Late Quartet and Michael Winterbottom’s still-untitled Paul Raymond film. And Need won’t be her first time sharing the screen with Paul; they appear together in A Long Way Down, scheduled to arrive next year.
