Though he's often rumoured as one of the people to potentially step into Daniel Craig's Bond suits, Idris Elba is now headed for his own spy movie. He'll star in a new, untitled espionage film with Simon Kinberg on board to produce.
Apple has splashed some cash to buy the rights to the project, which is currently untitled, but Daily Show writer Travon Free's screenplay is apparently set in Africa with a romance element involved.
The film sees Kinberg back in a genre he knows well, having kicked his career into high gear with the script for Mr And Mrs Smith and most recently directed the Jessica Chastain-starring 355, due out in January.
Elba will also produce the new film, under the deal his Green Door Pictures company signed with Apple in July. We'll hear more from the actor about one of his upcoming films, The Suicide Squad at the DC FanDome event arriving virtually next weekend.
