Idris Elba, when he's not busy being moody in a coat on TV, cancelling apocalypses in movies or gracing magazine covers as the Sexiest Man Alive, likes to indulge in spinning the decks in his free time. With Turn Up Charlie, he's blending the music and acting worlds for the story of a man who hasn't had quite the same level of success as Mr. Elba himself.
He stars as Charlie, a struggling DJ, eternal bachelor and constant disappointment to his parents, who is looking for that big break. When a famous friend (JJ Feild's David) offers him a job, he thinks it might be what he's after... until it turns out Charlie will be looking after David and wife Sara's (Piper Perabo) daughter Gabby (Frankie Hervey).
To add insult to injury, Gabbie is a nightmare child who delights in getting caregivers fired with a variety of schemes. Elba co-created the series with Gary Reich, and all eight episodes will arrive on Netflix on 15 March.
