The Hustle Trailer: Anne Hathaway And Rebel Wilson Lead New Take On Dirty Rotten Scoundrels

Considering it’s arriving the early side of this summer, things have been quite on The Hustle for a while – but now we’ve got our first proper look at the gender-flipped remake of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. This time the story of scheming con-artists stars Anne Hathaway and Rebel Wilson, the former a high-class trickster and the latter a loudmouthed crook, who set a wealthy target in their sights. Watch the duo in action in the trailer.

That’s a promising first look, with pace, energy and, most importantly, laughs – watching Anne Hathaway show off her comic chops is a hoot, and she’s already got the con artist thing down after last year’s Ocean’s Eight. Plus, this looks like exactly the right kind of vehicle for Rebel Wilson, with her deadly combination of slapstick buffoonery and droll, dry wit.

Curiously, this is the feature directorial debut of Brit comedian and actor Chris Addison, who’s previously helmed episodes of Armando Iannucci series The Thick of It and Veep. Here’s hoping he can deliver something fresh and funny, considering how much love there is for Frank Oz’s 1988 original, starring Steve Martin and Michael Caine as the two swindlers.

The Hustle will con its way into UK cinemas on 10 May.
